international women's club of dublin

activities

The International Women’s Club of Dublin (IWCD) is a social club with two main objectives. One is to welcome and assist newcomers and their families to Ireland. The other is to further members’ knowledge and understanding of Ireland.

Being a part of the IWCD will help make Dublin feel like home more quickly by making new friends and participating in some of the many activities that we offer. You will have the support of women who are established within Dublin.

The IWCD is entirely volunteer run. Depending upon volunteer skills and member demand we offer a variety of activities throughout the club year. Below is a sample of some of our activities.

monthly meetings

Our monthly meetings are an opportunity to meet other members over a cup of coffee or tea, and listen to guest speakers who talk on a variety of interesting subjects. The Club meets monthly from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on the second Tuesday of each month during our membership season that runs from September to June.

Language conversation groups

Learning a language through a friendly conversation is the best way to master it. Our English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Russian Conversation Groups will help you to become fluent through their gentle and friendly guidance over a cup of tea or coffee. These groups meet once or twice a month.

book clubs

Morning Book Club & Evening Book Club
Join our group of ladies who meet once a month in homes of the members for lively discussion and comments with coffee/ tea. International literature, some in translation, are all selected by members. The same book is discussed by everyone during the meeting which brings a rich level of conversation.

golf lessons and golf society

Members of the IWCD have the opportunity to learn to play golf or improve their swing through group lessons arranged by the club, and playing with the Golf Society! Lessons have been ongoing for nearly 10 years. We have all levels from beginners to great golfers, all looking to improve their game and share a coffee or tea afterwards and chat. It is a very positive and encouraging environment that keeps the ladies coming back.

hillwalking

On the doorstep of Dublin City are the wonderful Wicklow Mountains, which offer spectacular panoramic views of the sea, lakes, forests and countryside. The Dublin coastline also provides picturesque routes to walk along. Discover all this and more with the IWCD Hill Walking group. Participants have mentioned these (amongst other) benefits: feeling fitter, making new friends, improving their language skills, enjoying the beautiful Irish countryside.

cookery demonstrations

Get to know, make and taste recipes from all over the world. Our Members are keen on sharing their cuisine and food culture. Those moments of delicious discovery and joyful mingling will make you travel around the world.

mahjong

One of the long standing and popular activities is Mahjong. This Chinese game of strategy, skill, calculation and a bit of luck will keep you entertained for hours. The more you play the better you get. All levels are welcome.

food RELATED

Over the years Dublin has become one of the Europe's most exciting foodies destinations. We invite you to join these exciting food related activities such as recipe club, food styling and photography, food foraging, jam making, food history, food tours and lots more fun and delicious discoveries.

Coffee mornings

Coffee Mornings are an amazing way to meet with people living in your area. With over 300+ members in and around Dublin, it's nice to have a close network of friends who are always eager to welcome newcomers and help them to settle in their new environment. Each coffee area meets several times per year at a Member's house for some pastries and tea/coffee.

potluck lunches

Potluck is a friendly gathering at someone's house where each guest brings a dish to share. No need to be a super cook - the most important thing is sharing. Just don't forget to bring your good vibes!  Potlucks are organised on a regular basis throughout the year at a Member's house.

BRIDGE

Bridge is an internationally renown strategy card game.  If you are new to bridge, we offer classes for beginners or lessons on improving your bridge.  For the more experienced bridge players, there are opportunities for hands with other members.

GARDEN CLUB

Ireland is famed for its gardens and growing conditions.  Live your passion for gardening by joining our Garden Club. Visit the most exquisite Irish gardens that are open only for insiders, attend floral festivals and design classes.  The Club also discuss different growing tips and techniques that are prevalent within Ireland.  No need to have a garden, or even be a gardener - you just need an interest in plants to join.
